Did you enjoy your stay at Don’s Place? Please tell us about it!
I have stayed at all of the available housing locations in Val Marie and Don’s Place will be the one I return to in the future. It is extremely clean, well kept, fast internet, is comfortable, close to the park and you could not have a better host than Don Brown. If you forget groceries, the White Mud Grocery in town can tide you over as opposed to driving back to Swift Current. The rates are extremely reasonable. The location is close to Grasslands Park which is a prairie treasure. He knows this area as prior to purchasing this property had come to the village of Val Marie on numerous occasions to pursue his photography hobby.
We really enjoyed our stay at Don’s and we appreciated his good service! The location is handy to the park, the suite is spacious, and we appreciated the large fridge. Don is a wealth of information and was most helpful to us during our stay. We ended up with two flat tires, so he put us in touch with Glen Baxter, who came to our rescue. We appreciate the resourcefulness and resilience of rural folks.

We stayed at Don’s place in August 2024 and he went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The location is very close to Grasslands National Park and would definately recommend Don’s Place if you are visiting.
If you are going to visit the Grasslands National Park there ain’t not so many choices of possbilities for an overnight stay. So I booked a room at Don’s Place from Germany in advance. Three emails and everything was clear. Four months later I arrived at Val Marie. Don welcomed me and because I knew it, I paid cash – I don’t know why that should be a problem. The suite was clean, the beds comfortable, the kitchen was equipped with everything you need. I stayed there three nights and I was really satisfied.
